Sean Innis

Special Adviser

Sean Innis has joined the Productivity Commission as a Special Adviser.

Sean has more than 20 years’ experience advising government on economic, industry and social policy. Most recently, he was the inaugural head of the Policy Office in the Department of Social Services — responsible for the Department’s policy strategy, planning performance and systems and so responsible for a wide range of social policy reforms.

Sean has held a range of senior executive positions in DSS, its predecessors and in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. Sean first joined the Australian public service as an economist in the Bureau of Industry Economics. He holds a Bachelor of Business from Curtin University, and spent three years working as a bank teller.

At the Productivity Commission, Sean worked on the the Human Services inquiry and the Transitioning Regional Economies study.
