Book Production in Australia

About the Inquiry

In its terms of reference, the Industry Commission was asked, without limiting the scope of the terms of reference, to:

• report on the effectiveness of the current book bounty scheme;
• identify key factors affecting the development of the book production industry in Australia;
• identify ways to improve the industry's efficiency and international competitiveness; and
• advise on the nature and extent of assistance which should be accorded to the production of books in Australia after the book bounty scheme terminates on 31 December 1997.
