The Textiles, Clothing and Footwear Industries
About the Inquiry
The Commission was asked to report on the impact of current assistance arrangements for the Australian textile, clothing, and footwear industries, and make recommendations on assistance arrangements for the industries from 1 July 2000. It was also to report, so far as practicable, on a range of related issues including:
- national and international market factors affecting the industries;
- the advantages and disadvantages of Australia as an investment location for TCF industries;
- the potential for further development of the industries, including the scope for improving productivity and workplace practices;
- any measures which could be taken to remove impediments or otherwise contribute to the efficiency and development of TCF industries; and
- the effectiveness of Australian research and educational infrastructure for TCF industries.
