About the Study
The Industry Commission carried out a stocktake of progress in microeconomic reform at the request of the Commonwealth Government. The study covered all sectors of the economy, including government services and infrastructure, the operation of markets for labour and capital, and the scope for change in the nature and extent of government intervention. Particular emphasis was placed on areas which impact on the productivity and international competitiveness of Australian industries.
