Post-2005 Textile, Clothing and Footwear Assistance Arrangements
Economic Modelling Workshop
The Economic Modelling Workshop, was held on 20 March 2003 at University House, Australian National University, Canberra. The purpose of the workshop was to provide an opportunity for exposure and comparative assessment of the preliminary findings from five modelling studies looking at the impacts of reducing assistance to the TCF industries after 2005, as part of the public inquiry, Post-2005 TCF Assistance Arrangements.
Three of the five studies were contracted by the Commission. These were:
- The Textile, Clothing and Footwear Sector from 1997 to 2020 and the Effects of Reductions in Assistance produced by the Centre of Policy Studies, Monash University;
- Economic Modelling of the Post-2005 TCF Assistance Arrangements produced by Econtech Pty Ltd;
- Modelling international developments: GTAP simulations of TCF protection removal, produced by the Centre for International Economics.
The two remaining studies - by ACIL Tasman and the Centre for Sustainable Regional Communities - were undertaken on behalf of the Council of Textile and Fashion Industries of Australia and the Wangaratta Council, respectively.
