Effects of health and education on wages

Research Project

Background

Improvements in labour force participation and productivity have the potential to counteract the economic and social effects of demographic change. As a means of increasing participation and productivity, Australian governments have been focusing on policies to increase the health and education status of the population.

While the link between education and productivity (proxied by wages) is well established, evidence on the connection between specific health conditions and wages is sparse. This project uses recent Australian data from the HILDA survey to examine these linkages.

Objectives of the Study

The key objective of this project is to inform the policy debate on the relationship between individuals' health status and educational attainment and their wages.

Expected Release Date
