The Community services volume F includes performance reporting for Aged care services, Services for people with disability, Child protection services and Youth justice services. It also includes a sector overview for Community services. This volume was released on 28 January 2015.

The sector overview provides an introduction to the Aged care services (chapter 13), Services for people with disability (chapter 14), Child protection services (chapter 15) and Youth justice services (chapter 16) chapters of this Report. It provides an overview of the community services sector, presenting both contextual information and high level performance information.

Errata

Chapter 13

Data in attachment table 13A.30 for younger people (aged 49 years or under, aged 50-64 years and total) in residential aged care have been corrected for all jurisdictions.

Chapter 15

Data in attachment table 15A.3 for non-residential out-of-home care recurrent expenditure for 2012-13 have been corrected for Victoria.

Data in attachment table 15A.10 for children who were the subject of a substantiation following a decision not to substantiate for 2011-12 have been corrected for NSW.

Data in attachment table 15A.11 for children who were the subject of a resubstantiation within 3 months of a substantiation for 2010-11 have been corrected for NSW.

Data in attachment table 15A.15 for response time to commence investigation for 2012-13 have been corrected for NSW and Australia.

Sector performance indicator framework

This sector overview is based on a sector performance indicator framework and is made up of the following elements:

  • Sector objectives — three sector objectives are a précis of the key objectives of the community services sector.
  • Sector-wide indicators — sector-wide indicators are high level indicators which cut across community services.
  • Service-specific indicators — information from the service-specific performance indicator frameworks that relate to community services. Discussed in more detail in chapters 13, 14, 15 and 16, the service-specific frameworks provide comprehensive information on the equity, effectiveness and efficiency of these services.

Service-specific performance indicator frameworks

Chapters

Aged care services

The Aged care services chapter (chapter 13) reports on the performance of government funded services for older people, including assessment, residential care and community based services.

Services for people with disability

The Services for people with disability chapter (chapter 14) of the Report on Government Services reports on the assistance funded by governments to people with disability and their carers, focusing on specialist disability services.

Child protection

The Child protection services chapter (chapter 15) of the Report on Government Services reports on the performance of governments in providing child protection, out of home care and family support services.

Youth justice

The Youth justice services chapter (chapter 16) of the Report on Government Services reports on the performance of governments in providing youth justice services.
