Integrated Tariff Analysis System (ITAS)

Product Results (Average Tariffs)

This sub-module produces a range of summary and specific results. Summary data regarding tariffs faced by Australian exports, aggregated across all other ITAS importing countries, are presented. Summary data include:

  • Average initial and final bound tariff rates (presented using both the Girard and non-Girard treatment of missing bound rates, and using both the maximum and average rates across exporting partners);
  • Average initial and final applied tariff rates;
  • Average percentage changes in bound tariff rates;
  • Average percentage changes in applied tariff rates; and
  • Average percentage changes in the power of applied tariff rates (this is a measure of the percentage change in the duty-paid price).

Average initial and final tariffs are aggregated across all ITAS trading partners for all industrial items and for high tariff items. High tariff items are products for which the Post Uruguay applied rate is greater than 15 per cent.

Average initial and final tariffs faced by Australian exports are also presented in a summary format for each ITAS trading partner for all industrial items and for high tariff items.

Average tariffs faced by Australian exports at the HS6 level for each importing partner for both the first five scenarios and second five scenarios are also produced. These output files also contain import values (US$).

The data used in creation of step charts for Australian exports to each ITAS country are also presented. In this file, HS6 items are grouped by SITC1 code. The file contains average bound and applied rates, number of HS6 products, and the value of imports (US$).

Export values for Australian exports, aggregated across all ITAS trading partners by HS6 are also available. This file only includes items for which there is an applied tariff rate available in ITAS.

Percentage change variables show percentage changes of final from initial levels. Output variables are defined within these output files.
