Review of Australia’s mutual recognition schemes for workers

Productivity Commission submission
13 May 2026
The Productivity Commission’s submission to the review looks at how Australia’s mutual recognition schemes make it easier for workers to take their qualifications or licences from one state or territory to another. It finds these arrangements can help fill jobs faster and support a stronger economy, but that gaps, exemptions and uneven rules across jurisdictions can limit the benefits.
The PC provided the submission to the review on 31 March 2026 and it was published on our website on 13 May 2026.
