Productivity in Australia: selected policy options for a more prosperous future

This submission to the Select Committee on Productivity in Australia draws on recent PC inquiries and research papers to provide advice on Australia's productivity performance. It examines the global context, industry-level performance, regulation, tax, freight supply chains, competition policy and labour markets and the challenges in measuring productivity.

The PC provided the submission to the committee on 25 February 2026 and it was published on our website on 4 March 2026. 

A supplementary submission, The effect of regulatory burden on housing productivity and supply, was provided to the committee on 27 March 2026 and published on our website on 16 April 2026.
