Determinants of regional airfares

Individuals and organisations were invited to provide a submission to this inquiry. Initial submissions were due 15 March 2026.

The PC published a paper to assist people to prepare a submission. The paper sets out some of the issues and questions that the PC has identified as relevant at this early stage of the inquiry.

Submission writers are encouraged to identify issues relevant to this inquiry and suggest ways forward. The Commission appreciates evidence in support of any views, such as data, research reports and case studies.

The Productivity Commission has been asked to examine the determinants of regional airfares. Our inquiry will consider how to support a competitive, reliable and affordable aviation network for passenger flights outside Australia’s major cities.
