Final Report
The report set out the PC's assessment of jurisdictions’ progress towards meeting the outcomes and objectives of the 2004 National Water Initiative.
The report also set out the PC’s recommendations on approaches that support a sustainable water service industry.
The final inquiry report was handed to the Australian Government on 4 September 2026.
The release of the final report by the Government is the final step in the process.
Under the Productivity Commission Act 1998, the Government is required to table the report in each House of the Parliament within 25 sitting days of receipt.
