This review was released on 9 December 2021 and reports the results of a project undertaken to find out what is known about systems that enable the public health approach (PHA) to protecting children.

The PHA emphasises universal preventative initiatives (primary approaches) and early intervention (secondary approaches), with the statutory system (tertiary approaches, such as placement of children in out-of-home care) seen as a last resort.
