Danielle Wood – Chair

Danielle Wood commenced a 5-year term as Chair of the Productivity Commission on 13 November 2023.

Prior to her appointment as Chair, she was CEO of the Grattan Institute. Before that, she worked in senior roles at the ACCC and in economic consulting, having started her career as a graduate at the Productivity Commission.

Danielle is a member of the Australian Government’s Competition Review Expert Advisory Panel and Co-Lead of the Evaluation Profession across the Australian Public Service. She also holds advisory roles with the Melbourne Institute, UNSW Public Policy Institute and Australian Dialogues.

An Honorary Fellow and former President of the Economic Society of Australia, Danielle was also the co-founder and inaugural Chair of the Women in Economics Network.

She holds an Honours Degree in Economics from the University of Adelaide and Masters Degrees in Economics and Law from the University of Melbourne. In 2025, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Adelaide.

In 2024, Danielle was a winner of the AFR Women in Leadership Awards.

She is currently co-leading the Housing supply regulation inquiry.
