This study identifyied services within the human services sector that are best suited to the increased application of competition, contestability and informed user choice.

The whole Human Services inquiry is now complete.

The issues paper covered a range of issues on which the Commission sought information and feedback, and was intended to assist you in preparing a submission.

Initial submissions were due by 25 July 2016.

In undertaking the study report, the Commission examined:

  • the current level, nature and future trends in demand for services
  • the current supply arrangements and future trends, including the scope for user choice, diversity in provision, and contestability in supply by government, not-for-profit and private sector providers
  • the effectiveness of previous reforms intended to introduce greater competition and user choice, both in Australia and internationally.
