Review of Regulatory Burden on the Upstream Petroleum (Oil and Gas) Sector

This study has concluded. The final research report was sent to the Australian Government on 9 April 2009 and publicly released on 30 April 2009.
The Productivity Commission was asked to report within twelve months on the regulatory burden on the upstream petroleum (oil and gas) sector in Australia.
The Commission was to assess the impact of the current regulatory framework on the international competitiveness and economic performance of the sector, reporting on regulatory impediments and consider options for a national regulatory authority to manage all regulatory approvals.
