Higher Education Access and Outcomes
Commission research paper
Higher education has provided an opportunity for many people from disadvantaged backgrounds to establish themselves on higher-paying career paths. In recent years, more students have been entering university and this increase has included significantly higher numbers from some, but not all, disadvantaged groups.
This project will look at who is participating and the academic and labour market outcomes these additional students are achieving. It will draw on data from the Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youth, Household Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia and the Census of Population and Housing.
Objectives of the study
To assess the benefits achieved by expanding university access and the barriers to further participation by equity groups.
