What we’ve been asked to look at
This inquiry will examine the effectiveness, efficiency and appropriateness of Part 3 of the Future Drought Fund Act 2019. Part 3 covers the processes for allocating funding to activities that support drought resilience.

The Commission released a paper calling for submissions and comments to the Inquiry. Individuals and organisations providing submissions or comments should provide evidence to support their views, including data and specific examples where possible.
This paper was released on 19 January 2023.
Initial submissions were due by 3 March 2023.
Interim report release
The Commission will seek further information and feedback following the expected release of the interim report(s) in June 2023.
Final report to Government and release
The final inquiry report is to be handed to the Australian Government by 10 September 2023.
The release of the final report by the Government is the final step in the process.
Under the Productivity Commission Act 1998, the Government is required to table the report in each House of the Parliament within 25 sitting days of receipt.
